This Saadi Poem, a Persian poet, placed at the Entrance of the United Nations Building NYC
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you’ve no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain!
We are all part of one body. When one part of the body hurts, all hurts.
If we do not feel the pain of another human, then we must not be called human.
