What is Success to Rumi?
Rumi believed that we gain happiness and Success when all parts of the (self) work in harmony: Heart, Spirit, and soul. Once someone commits fraud to succeed in life and accumulate wealth, The turbulence is created in his heart, and this negative energy creates a state of imbalance between heart, spirit, and soul. That person has money to live a happy and comfortable life, but he is not satisfied due to the struggle between different parts (Self).
The constant fear of being caught or guilt complex makes him lose sleep and live in a state of fear. The fear causes the body to lose its normal function and results in disease and sickness.
Once you do things from the heart, the significant part of the self keeps the average energy balance in all regions. It creates a harmonious relationship between all segments of the self. This harmony brings true Success and, as a result, happiness to a person’s life.
A thief once confessed to his priest that he felt happy after he surrendered himself to the police and spent the time for his crime. He said that he felt more successful and content inside the prison than outside the prison. He said, “My body was in prison, but my mind and consciousness outside the prison.”
He felt successful by using his skill to do carpentry work in the prison workshop. He later said that he never felt that successful in anything he had done in his life.
“Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open.”
