We are all raised and conditioned to behave in a certain way. We learned what acceptable and unacceptable behavior is. If we focus on what entered into our subconscious mind, we never become that person we want to become all our life. The true nature of a person will surface by their feeling, not their words. A thousand words can not convey our feeling, what a smile can do. It is the feeling that makes the memories, not the words. As Rumi said, “Words are a pretext. It is the inner bond that draws one person to another, not words.”
In generosity and helping others be like the river
In compassion and grace, be like the sun.
In concealing others’ faults be like the night.
In anger and fury, be like the dead.
In modesty and humility, be like the soil.
In tolerance, be like the ocean.
Rumi’s words, his verses, and his poetry have always inspired me. It moved me at the soul level. It made me understand so many of life’s truths that sometimes, I am astounded by what they reveal when I sit to soak in his words. You can read the same poetry a hundred times over, and each time you will come to understand another layer of the wisdom it offers.
